An intriguing topic
of discussion at hand is whether in order to be well-informed, a person must
get information from many different news sources. The answer to this question
can vary greatly, depending on the individual perspectives. Thus, the jury may
still be out, but as far as I am concerned, I agree with the statement. In this
essay, I will present two reasons supporting my standpoint as follows.
First of all, with a
variety of news sources, we can apprehend a wealth of knowledge. This is
because every news source is differentiated along with their subjective
disposition. In other words, each type of media has a direction to deal with
coverage more deliberately than any other sections. Choosing several news
papers or channels, we are informed of not biased
knowledge. For example, there are many diverse channels: politics, cosmetic and
fashion, the environment in my country’s broadcasting industry. When tremendous
disaster happened in our neighboring country, Japan, I could acquire related
information from a few good sources. I watched the accident site in the news
channel that always aired only news and I learned the cause and process of the
catastrophe in specialized in science topic. Accordingly, I came to know what
the natural disaster had developed beneath the crust in Japan before the event
with 3D effects. That is, we can gain more effective tool in conjunction with
various topics.
In addition, we can
be well-balanced as well as well-informed. Every news media has politically
opinionated characteristic besides disposition in contents. People almost
supporting one part representing their interest, all the more they tend to
stick to viewing a few sources with unitary editing propensity. This definitely
drives people to accept information in a minutely distorted way. Renowned as a
conservative tone of an argument, one news media showed president−The president was a
liberal and progressive politicians’ private house as a highly luxurious
designed mansion. In reality, the house is made up of soil and wood partially
and designed environmentally friendly methods, equipped with a broad garden and
a farm. If we depend on one or single source, then we must miss or overlook some
information hidden by a media’s intention especially on a political science
field as I have mentioned above.
In conclusion, I
strongly argue for my standpoint on account of the two reasons mentioned above.
Once again, although the verdict may still be out, I personally believe that
two of my rationales above are sufficiently convincing enough to represent the
viewpoints of a majority of people who are in favor of my claim.
