It has been controversial whether working for one company is not possible during people's whole life. Some people might argue that people can work at a one company for a life time because people would tend to settle for the present. However, I strongly agree with the statement that people are able to work for several companies because of intentional purpose and unintentional purpose.
Obviously, it is natural that people would like to live improved lives as levels of their careers. As a matter of the fact, people can be promoted as their career performances have been accumulated. They will get (be) seems to be rewarded with promotions or incentives at their companies. Nevertheless, some people would be not satisfied with such rewards. Then, they would decide to change jobs within the same field but with better options. which provide more better career lives. For example, one of my friend was a reporter working for a small newspaper which deals with only science issues. She spent most of their time trying to get getting a scoop and writing reliable articles for five years. She had has gotten hold of published exclusive news whenever she was reporting about science news. Finally, she was awarded with a big prize in a competition searching for a scoop and was get acknowledged in her field. Then, Chosun daily newspaper which is one of the biggest newspapers offered her a job with a higher salary and better working environment, better quality of career life, and she decided to move her job. As such, people can change jobs to pursue their career or when they have a tempting job offer. Now, she was guaranteed better career life. It is better for people to resign from their jobs for another job when they think themselves that their abilities to work have improved.
Evidently, people can be forced out of a company. When companies are downsizing or go bankruptcy, employees have no choice but to be laid off. In this case, workers are not likely to stay at a company for their whole life. For instance, it was reported in 2003 that more than two thirds of small companies declared bankruptcy when the great financial crisis hit korea in 1997. Therefore, a lot of employees lost their job and were forced some of them tried to find other jobs. In this regard, there are cases of unintentional change of jobs. changing their jobs unintentionally.
On the whole, it is not easy for people to settle for a company for their whole life. This is because people have desires to change jobs for better career. Furthermore, employees could be let go in times of financial crisis. should find a new job when getting fired.
