There is an ongoing debate on whether cell phones should be banned in public transportation or not. Some people might agree with this opinion saying that they would be bothered by the noise of a cell phone, if it is allowed. In opposition to this point, I strongly argue that people should be allowed to use 1) a cell phone freely in public vehicles. The reasoning behind this is that there could be an emergency. Additionally, a mobile phone is very 2) a useful tool when people want to kill their time and save information.
1) a cell phone (countable)
2) a useful tool (countable)
3) it is not clear
More than anything else, 1) a cell phone tells us an emergency faster than any other tool in the world. Since there are many hidden dangers 2) in our daily lives, unexpected accidents can happen on any given day. In this case, 3) the most direct and rapid way of telling others about the accident is using a cell phone. For example, I was riding a bus to meet 4) my friend two weeks ago. Suddenly, an old woman in the bus fell down and 5)did not seem to move. Everybody there was very surprised and 6) did not know what to do. At that time, I took out of my cell phone and called 911. Fortunately, she was taken to the hospital right away and 7) could save her life. 8) Moreover, 9)I could make a phone call to my friend and told the situation, which made him not annoyed waiting for me. Judging from my personal experience, 10) cell phone usage should be permitted in order to 11) prepare ourselves with emergency.
1) A cell phone can be used to report an emergency.
2) In our daily life (uncountable)
3) The fastest way of responding to the emergency will be making a phone call.
4) a friend of mine or one of my friends (If you haven’t mentioned any specific friend of yours)
5) did not seem to be able to move. (if it is based on your personal thoughts)
6) did not seem to know what to do (if it is based on your personal thoughts)
7) it saved her life.
8) In the mean while
9) I made a phone call to my friend so that he did not have to wait for me.
10) The use of a cell phone (usage is more like “how something is used especially in language”)
11) Prepare ourselves for an emergency (*prepare for)
Next, 1)mobile phones are very handy 2) when spending time. These days, 3) latest cell phones are equipped with a variety of functions such as 4) game, Internet, and MP3 player. Those are very enjoyable when we feel bored 5) in public transportation. To illustrate, when I was traveling around my home country,
1) cell phones (stick to use “a cell phone”)
2) Not clear
3) The latest cell phones
4) A game, internet connection, an MP3 player
5) Inside of a public vehicle (this is a specific vehicle not the system of transportation)
6) In the train, I often
7) Thanks to the enjoyable instrument
8) Kill time ( you don’t have to put a determiner)
Finally, cell phones also have a big memory to store 1)substantial amount of information. With the advent of high technology in the telecommunication industry, 2) the total capacity of a mobile phone for storing information has greatly increased. For instance, 3) I used to carry all of the documents and printed files when I worked in my company. Because I had to go foreign countries by air plane in order to meet buyers, those were not only heavy to carry with, but also bothersome to handle with. After buying 4) recent mobile phone with 5) high capacity for file storage, I could simply transmit all of my files from my computer to the phone, and carry it with me very conveniently. Without the portable storage,6) I would complain about endless documents which I have to take with me all day up to now.
1) a substantial amount of information
2) the total storage capacity of a cell phone
3) When I worked at office, I used to carry all of documents and printed files even for business trips abroad.
4) a recent mobile phone (countable)
5) high storage capacity
6) I would have complained about endless documents, which I might have had to take with me all day up to now.
To sum up, I firmly believe that people have good reasons to use their mobile phones in public transportation. Those are that people can 1) deal with 2) unexpected accident, spend their time with pleasure, and use them 3)as file storages conveniently. All in all, the advantages of 4)cell phone usage in public vehicles eclipse the disadvantages of it.
1) Cope with (“deal with” is not recommendable to be used in academic writing)
2) an unexpected accident (countable)
3) as a convenient file storage
4) cell phone use
5) outshine (for me, this would be better)
