Some novel characters make mistakes by having made decisions alone; others choose right decisions by themselves. There are certain occassions when a person should decide alone, but I think that making decisions alone can often cause problems. There are several reasons to support my argument but the most essential ones are following. First, making a decision by oneself can be biased. Second, consulting others' thoughts may help you make a better decision.
To begin with, a person should not make crucial decisions alone because it can be biased. It is because a person may have partial information or biased perspective which influences his/her decision-making process. For example, a person who does not have full and comprehensive information about presidential candidates may not be able to make a right decision. S/he might have a political or racial bias. Moreover, if s/he does not talk about the candidates with other voters s/he would maintain the biased perspective based on the partial information. Thus, s/he might vote without unbiased and impartial decision-making.
On top of that, asking others when making an crucial decision may result in a better decision than the one by oneself. People have different ideas and diverse perspectives, so their thoughts may help have comprehensive views when seeing situations and problems related to the decision-making. In my experience, my friends have given me advices whenever I have to decide where I work. They know my strength and weakness which affect my competence in workplace. Also, they sometimes research on companies and give me their information. This helps me to decide where I should work. If I am the only one to decide I cannot have much information on me and companies, which would not result in a right decision for myself.
To conclude, I agree with the statement that a person should not make significant decisions alone. Making decisions alone can miss chances to have unbiased and better decisions for decision makers. All things considered, it is obvious that making decisions alone should be avoided and, that decision makers should actively look for advices to better decisions. |
