A teacher who is serious and strict is more effective than a teacher who is humorous and easygoing |
It is debatable whether a teacher who is serious and strict is better in teaching students effectively than a teacher who is humorous and easygoing. Some people seem to believe that strict teachers are more effective than easygoing teachers. However, I strongly believe that teachers who are easy to approach for students are more appropriate to teach students for several reasons. The first reason is that strict teachers lack interective teaching skills. The teachers are too strict for students to approach. Thus it could be difficult for students having qutestions to ask to them. Not only that, but in schooling and other form of lecturing, communication between teachers or lecturers and students is very cruciel because through communications teachers can focus on topics that students don’t know exactly and studnts can ask questions and get answers easily. Take my experience for example. When I was in sophomore year in middle school, I was very poor at mathmatics. At that time, I lacked understanding fundemental concepts in math. Naturally, I had many questions which were very easy to other students. However, my math teacher who was very kind and good listener didn’t hasitate to teach me basic concepts of mathmatics. Thanks to kind math teacher, I could catch with other students’ math progresses. As my experience illustrate, interective lecturing is very effective. Thus teachers who is kind and have good relationsions with students are more beneficial to teach students. The second reason is that strict teachers whom it is difficult for students to approach can’t show what a good social skill is. I think that to students, schools should be places where students can learn not only knowledge but also social skill. Through relationships between teachers and students, students can realize what the ideal relationships especially between seniors and juniors. For example, my teacher who was my homerood teacher in junior year of middle school, seemed to me that he had good relationsips. He showed good leadership as a teacher and also a friend. I think that was very difficult in korea because Korean society was still immersed in confusion culture stressing strict relationship between teacher and student. Thus, I have regard him as a good role model since that time. From this experience, we can realize that kind teachers having good relationship with students are more effective. All things considered, kind teachers are more effective than strict teachers in that teachers having good relationships with students can be a good academic advisors and can teach students what the good relationship is. I only hope that especially in korea, teachers who are only strict and have difficulties in making bright relationships with students learn effective teaching skills from kind teachers as possible as they can.
