▶ Your Answer :
It is debatable whether it is better to spend money on a thing that will last long such as jewelry than on a short-term pleasure such as vacation. Regardless of what opponents argue, my personal take on the matter is that spending money on a short-term pleasure is more beneficial than spending money on a thing that will last long. I can point out a number of reasons to support my stance, but I will shorten to the two most significant points; Firstly, we easily feel bored even from items once believed to give long lasting pleasure, and secondly, it is much more stress relieving.
The first most convincing reason with respect to my stance is that even though we spend money for lasting pleasure, it is impossible for its pleasure to remain forever in our memories. The people who are in opposition to my stance have an inclination mistakenly overlook the fact that we are likely to lose our interest or satisfaction from items such as jewelry that once was believed to giving us long lasting satisfaction. Whenever I buy a ring which is one of my favorite items, it never fails to make me feel bored as time goes by. In this way, it is a better bargain to spend money on a short-term pleasure such as vacation.
The second reason that I would like to bring to light in arguing my position lies in the fact that by spending money on a short-term pleasure, we can manage our stress more efficiently. It is undeniable that many people in modern society get stressed out from a heavy load of work.
To illustrate, according to a recent article conducted by Korea Times, spending money on a short-term pleasure such as watching movies and travelling is much more effective in both managing our stress and refreshing ourselves. This is largely attributable to the fact that spending for short-term pleasure can give us direct and immediate satisfaction. Inevitably, this is good for our health physically as well as emotionally. This clearly indicates that we are better of spending money on a short-term pleasure.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that the aforementioned arguments adequately support my stance that the benefits of spending money for short-term pleasure outweigh those of spending money for long-term pleasure.
