Do you agree or disagree with following statement? Being happy with a job is more important than having a high salary. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. |
There are often conflicts between ideal and reality. One of those conflicts is about choosing a job. Most people consider mainly 2 dimensions to pick a job which are happiness and salary. Some people weigh more on a high salary than happiness when they select a job but I think being happy with a job is more substantial than a high salary.
First, if people can be happy with a job, they could get a high motivation to do the work. This motivation helps them to work more effective and efficient. Eventually the motivation on working leads them to get a high compensation that can be a high wage. For example, one of my friends who didn’t give up her dream to be a singer actually became a well-known singer. Even though she didn’t get paid a lot, whenever she sang, she felt happy and, indeed the happiness motivated her to practice to sing more and more. This effort come from happiness made her a famous singer.
Second, those who satisfy with their job can obtain mental health. People who work for a job with happiness are able to get self-achievement and be confident about what they work for and also proud of themselves. Then they don’t have to be stressed out because of the works that they are not willing to do. Therefore, they can be mentally healthy while they are working at a job. Apparently some of the older generations have got mental illnesses, such as depression, anxiety, and nervous breakdown, because of a job they couldn’t get happiness with. In an opposite way, these days young generations have less mental problems with a job since they tend to get a job they can be happy with. This fact shows that having a job which gives people happiness make them healthy.
In conclusion, people would be better off when they work for a job which can give them happiness rather than a high salary because of the high motivation and mental health. High salary can give people visible money but happiness can deliver people invisible advantages that they can’t even buy with money.
