In your country, is there more need for land to be left in its natural condition or is there more need for land to be developed for housing and industry? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Every country develops and improves in its own aspect, and they often choose either one of these two options: keeping the country in a natural condition, or industrializing the country. I think that in my home country, Korea, there is more urgent need for keeping the country in a natural condition. This is because Korea is already developed, so there wouldn’t be a big difference to more industrialize the country, and also because Korea has beautiful nature and remains of history.
First of all, my country, Korea, is already a well-developed country, and it is time for the government to focus on preserving the nature and history like other developed countries. There are already many developed cities such as Seoul, the capital, and Busan. There are airports throughout the country, and reliable, firm companies like Samsung or LG have already taken important positions in the world economy. So it would be useless to try to more industrialize the country. Even if the government does actually want to focus on the development of industry, it wouldn’t make big difference to the worldly reputation and state of the country.
Besides, Korea has beautiful nature that all nature lovers can appreciate and important historical sites that would impress people’s mind. In Korea, there was Chosun Dynasty in the past, and many palaces and historic parades still remaining are mostly from this Dynasty. Chosun Dynasty developed in various aspects. Also, Korea has developed so fast since the Korean War has ended; it’s only been about 60 years. So if the government concentrates on tourism industry, Korea will develop even more. In fact, many developed countries are now focusing on preserving their nature and historical sites to attract visitors and improve the country’s economy even more. It will be considered old fashioned to destroy nature and construct new buildings under the excuse that it will influence the country’s economy and wealth. In order for the government to get with the times, we should be preserving nature and history.
To conclude, Korea is already developed so has little margin to improve in the aspect of industrialization. Also, this country has great nature scenes and historic sites to attract visitors. Therefore, I think that my country is in more need of preserving the nature or history than of development of housing and industry.
