Opinions vary regarding whether a teacher’s ability to relate well to students is more important than to give them knowledge. I agree with the statement for the following two reasons. For one thing, a teacher’s ability to contact well to students can make students to easily reach their academic goals. Additionally, the ability help their students grow into desirable adults.
First of all, teachers who frequently relate well to their students encourage students to attain their academic success. Some people say that teachers who only give students knowledge may improve students’ academic performance. However, the students’ academic performance is always not stable throughout their school years. Thus, it is an important ability for teachers to have frequently contact with their students in order to achieve students’ academic goals. Take my case as an example. During my middle school years, I had had some personal problems at school, which made me not to concentrate on my academic studies. In this context, I often daydreamed during class and sometimes skipped the class. At this moment, my teacher expressed deep understanding me and offer encouraging words to me. Eventually, I willingly took part in group discussions and completed the assigned homework. As my experience illustrates, it is more essential for teachers to spend more time with their students in order to enhance students’ academic efficiency than only to give them knowledge.
In addition, teachers help their students to develop desirable adults by frequently mixing with them. In these days, many students feel overwhelmed with stressful school lives. In this sense, if teachers do not have often contact with students, they will partake in any wrongdoings as an escape of irritated school lives. Thus, I maintain that teachers should spend more time with students in order to prevent them from participating in any wrongdoings. According to a study conducted by Korean National Research Center, 66 percent of surveyed people who are in trouble such as taking drugs answered that when they met teachers who have frequently contact with them, they could be given a great help to grow desirable person. Based on the study, if they had not met the teachers, they would not have grown desirable adults. In this regard, good students can be expected when teachers spend more time with them.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that teachers should bring students together since they can help students to reach their academic goals through school years and to grow desirable adults. |
