Topic: the best way to learn foreign country is to read newspapers and magazines
It is often said that reading newspapers and magazines enable people to fully understand different foreign countries as ones believe those explain other cultures in detail. My view, however, disagree with this statement for two crucial reasons: To best learn about other countries, people need to visit and stay there and take visual aids combined with audio ones.
To begin with, first experience is the best method of learning other cultures. Of course, newspaper and magazines have a wealth of information about other countries, but it goes not to say that visiting allows people to better get knowledge about it. This is because that the described world in book might be different from real world. From personal experience, last year, I visited Iran, in the Middle Asia. Before the trip, I took reading books, magazines and newspapers for learning its cultures. I thought it was completely enough to avoid embarrassing while traveling, but it was dissimilar what I had expected. According the readings, Iran is conservative, unkind, and closed cultures. However, in real, I felt that people were so open-minded, kind, and bright that the trip was a full of joy. This implies that the information from the reading is limited but experience in hand is a better way to learn other countries.
On top of that, TV, movies and documentary films enable individuals to learn different cultures.
Today, there are various kinds of visual and audio materials including internet website, TV programs and movies. It helps people to educate in any field such as social, economic, even cultures because the more senses it is used, the better understanding and memorizing people obtain. According to a study conducted by Seoul National University of Korea in 2008, there was a significant difference in comprehension and memory on a test between two groups: Group A, the students who learned with visual and audio materials, achieved up more than 80 percent on the test, on the other hand, the students of group B with the reading objects took up below 50 percent of that In this respect, visual and audio aids far outweighs the reading ones when it comes to learning.
