It would be very beneficial if a large shopping center is near my area. I might not have to go to travel to buy clothes and things I need or when I have to buy different items like clothes, shoes and food, I don't have to go to different shops to buy those. It will save my time and energy. However, there are more reasons why I don't want big shopping malls in my neighbor. I will discuss the reasons why I oppose this plan.
First of all, in my neighbor, there are lots of old style markets. The owner of those shops are not rich and since they were there for years selling all different kind of goods and services, people are now know them very well and they are like very good friends to all the neighbors in my town. If a large shopping center comes to this town, it will change this environment a lot. Big malls are usually cheaper and have more products. It is obvious this big mall will attract more people. These owners of small shops will lose their job due to people going to that big shopping mall. That would ruin this local economy system.
Secondly, I have experienced that I had to wait long time to pay for only a few items. Usually, there are so many people at the mall and most of them buy so many things at one time. People who buys a few things they need would be very frustrated to wait in a long line. Since the mall is very big, sometimes people get lost and don't know where to go to find the product they want. For example, when my grandmother visited my family from a country town, she wanted to cook for us. She went to the big supermarket to get ingredient but she was so confused in there and couldn't find the things. Some people had to help her and it took 3 hours for her to finish her grocery shopping.
To conclude, there might be good and bad effects having a big shopping center in my neighbor. However, I see more negative effects than positive. It might endanger the local business in my town and for some people it would be uncomfortable to shop. Therefore, I oppose this plan because I love my town and don't want it to be in danger. |
