Although Some people might say that friendships can last forever because humans are social animhals. They constantly make friends and try to keep that relationships by putting with much effort, I believe that there is not a no such thing as everlasting relationships. There are two major reasons: human-beings' instinct and nature and incessant competition among others. (inevitable to compete with friends)
To begin with, when it comes to our nature that does not keep us doing harmful things that may harm us, we cannot have friends who would be are with us for good. It may be true that there are many people who would give up much benefits for their friends' sake but they are only few out of thousands of people. Moreover, if those few people who were willing to help their friends do not get the same sacrifices from those they helped then they would be so dissapointed that their friendships fades away faster than ever. (콤마로 구문을 해주셔야 할것같습니다.) For example, when my mother gave a hand for to his her brother (엄마의 동생이나 오빠인가요?)when he was having a hard time financially. my mother was deeply sorry for him and was trying very best to help him out. Thus, for a long time, they had kept closer relationships with each other than any other their ciblings. However, when he made much money after overcoming financial difficulties, he was not willing to pay mother back because unlike my mother, he was having just a superficial relationships with my mother. My mother was very shocked and has not seen him even once since then. This shows even a kinship does not last forever. If they let them down, let alone friendships. We have a tendancy to be selfish even if we might not realize that. This temperament makes having a intimate relationship with others forever almost
impossible. In conclusion, unless we were born for others, it is unlikely we will not easy to keep our friendships everlastingly.
Secondly, as far as constant competition among others is concerned, friends cannot last forever. As society is getting more complex, competion competition among peers is getting more fierce. Therefore, we have no choice but to compete with our friends to survive in this society. Who would give up a great opportunity to of success in this world for the sake of his/her friends?
For instance, especially in Korea, students have to win over others in order to enter prestigious universities. In a sense, it may be true that there is a good competition that boosts each others to work more efficiently. However, behind their minds, they constantly think about how to do better on exams than their friends and that is what motivates them to study more. Therefore, even the best friends would feel hurt when one of them win over the other. Furthurmore, if they enter two different universities, they would find other friends to compete with and like the saying out of sight, out of mind, their friendship would fade away.
In conclusion friendship is only a ephemeral concept in this society and therefore, there cannot be such a thing as everlasting friends. |
