It is often performed in the United States that students evaluate their teachers. Although students feel like it is very boring things and unnecessary things to do, I firmly believe that schools should keep ask favor to students to evaluate their teachers and my view can be greatly substantiated by the reasons addressed below.
First of all, students are the one who pay tuition fee and listen to teacher's lecture; thus, students are the most appropriate people to evaluate their teachers. In other words, people such as president, vice president or director don't have right to evaluate schools' teachers because they are not the one who listen the lecture but students know their teachers' teaching style better than anyone else. Students know whether teacher has a lot of knowledge or keep a good relationship between students or have bias on grading or tend to arrive late to class and so on. By this way, school will know whether teachers are appropriate to keep or rather change to another good teachers.
Secondly, the evaluation sheet that was filled out by students are the most credible source. To put it again, school are not only asking to one student to fill out the evaluation sheet but they are asking all students to evaluate their teachers. Some students will evaluate their teachers very negatively because of personal problem that student had with the teachers. However, this is not a true evalutation. Thus, what school does is to make an average of all students evaluation sheet and by doing this way, the result will be more credible.
In conclusion, only students have right to evaluate their teachers and it is the most credible source because they've been learned from their teachers for at least one year; thus, what I believe is that students already know their teaching styles and teachers' character better than any other person. Therefore, school should ask students to evaluate their teachers. |
