People have their own opinions about whether the government should focus more on economic development or preserving natural environment. Some people might say that there are still a lot of people who are suffering from hunger and poverty, so we have to stay focus on economic development. From my point of view, however, it is better for the government to concentrate on preserving natural environment.
First of all, in the foreseeable future, the natural resources will be scant. It is often said that most of the nations are making every effort to secure natural environment. This is because natural environment has numerous values, such as natural resources, water and fresh air. We cannot buy many of them with money and also the environment's economic value is more than that we think. To illustrate, according to the research conducted by the scientists, the economic value of fresh air produced by tree and fresh water made by a large number of bacteria and sea creatures amount to trillions of dollars. Therefore, it is more effective for the government to preserve the environment than develop the economy in the aspect of economy.
Not only that, clean environment is very beneficial for the public health. Nowadays, a large number of people are suffering from diseases cause by environmental pollution. It is very easy to see those people around us and on TV. For example, my sister's daughter had a severe skin problem, when she was seven-year old. So, my sister took her to the hospital to see a doctor. The doctor told my sister that she would be cured, if she would be grown up in the clean air, such as rural. My sister decided to send her daughter to my mother who is living in the rural area. Since after grown up in the clean area, she has not been suffered from the disease any longer. By preserving the environmental, the government can improve the public health.
For these two reasons that I mentioned above, preserving the natural environment is more effective than developing economy and keeping the environment clean benefits the public, I strongly believe that government should preserve the natural environment.
