There is an
ongoing debate over whether or not it is better to get information from
different news sources than from a single one. Some people may disagree with
this idea because information from disparate sources might make us confused.
However, I am against this stance and present my reasons below.
Information
from different sources helps us not being intolerant. This is because many perspectives
are possible for same situation. Each news source can gauge differently and then,
describe a certain fact also differently each other. It’s dependent on the
writer’s disposition. It is evident that what they are different each other
does not mean that one is wrong and the other is right. Accordingly, by getting
information from different sources, one can reach a comprehensive understanding
about something.
But
even the above reasons are plausible, some may argue that materials from
different sources make people quite confused. So, it makes difficult to reach a
proper understanding. Yet, I still put an emphasis on my idea because there is
one more important matter to consider.
People
understand a certain fact more accurately by acquiring information from
different news sources. If all news sources convey information almost same each
other, we are assured that the information is reliable. Also, it is impossible
to convey materials exactly the same. It is possible that one can deliver
information which others have not exhaustively found until then. To illustrate
this point, many people condemned Michael Jackson as a person who was addicted
to a plastic surgery. However, the advent of the information of another news
source, which says that he was suffering an eccentric disease, made the people
being shamed about their criticism. Therefore, by getting information from
different sources, we could avoid misunderstanding.
To
sum up, everyone may hold a different position on this issue. Yet, all things
considered, I firmly believe that it is required to acquire information from
different news sources in order to understand better. This is because by doing
so, we can prevent us from being intolerant and understand a certain fact more
accurately and certainly. |
