Some people say that today's people spend too much time on personal enjoyment - doing things they like to do rather than they should do. I disagree with this opinion for two reasons. First, they do not have plenty of enough time to enjoy enjoying pastime. Second, government compels people to play their role by national law. OR people are obligated to perform many duties by national law.
Most of all, people who live in the modern recent society cannot appreciate their leisure time fully because there are so many things they should do to succeed in their lives. Some people may think that
an expansion of wealth makes has made it possible for people to enjoy personal enjoyment. However, today is an era of a speed and a competition. Naturally, a lot of workers and students must go to great lengths in order to achieve their goal everyday. This situation causes people to obsess with not an entertainment but their personal matters. Major newspapers used to are always reporting some articles about exceedingly busy people in the postindustrial society. Theses articles say that people become lose have lost their peace of mind and become a workaholic. There are a ton of tasks that they should carry out to get credit behave to get an ackonwledge by their bosses, teachers, and the society. This shows that today's people do not spend much time on personal enjoyment.
Furthermore, some countries including my country compel people to play fulfil their obligations by Constitution. In my contry, Republic of Korea, All males must go to join the army when they become 20 years old. Besides, Greece obliagates females to go to army, too. Let me take my experience for example. When I was in my first year of my university, I had to go to join the army because it a set rule in is rule on my country. I wanted to enjoy my life and study about my major deeply, however besides that, I even had a girl friend who I met in university. Although I was greatly depressed, I advocated understood my obligation and I entered to army. After 2 years, when I finally became a free citizen from army, but I had less time. I had to do internships in many businesses and study to get a decent job. Now, I am studying TOEFL to participate in the exchange student program in the states.
In conclusion, I strongly disagree that nowadays some people spend too much time on personal enjoyment - doing things they like to do rather than they shoud do for the reasons that I have mentioned above.
