▶ Your Answer :
Undoubtedly,
old friends play a significant role in people’s daily lives in many of the
places where they work or play. Some people contend that moving to different countries
can cause losing old friends, while others do not. Both sides may have their
own reasons to support their views. If I were asked to choose one, I would say
that even if people are far away from their old friends, they don’t have to worry
about losing their friendship. There are several reasons as follows.
To
begin with, although people move to different countries or places, they can keep
their contact with their old friends by using smartphones. Smartphones were
equipped with many functions that help people communicate with old friends, families,
and even strangers. Through these smartphones, they can text their message and
do Facetime with their friends wherever they reside in. When such functions are
well used, it is likely to maintain and even increase their level of friendship.
For instance, when my youngest sister Jane was in high school, she moved from South
Korea to the United States because of her father’s occupation. At first, she
and her friend Doe felt very sad about being away from each other. However,
with the encouragement of her father, she was able to purchase an iPhone and do
Facetime with her friend Doe. Even though her friend didn’t have such smartphones,
she had an updated computer, which was equipped with a Facetime software
program. As a result, until coming back to her own country, Korea, they could maintain
their friendship through such smart devices.
In
addition, even though people are living in different countries far away from
their own country, a high level of international transportation systems allows
them to travel between each country very easily. As the transporting technologies
are developed, their traveling times and fees are declined dramatically. For these
reasons, people can have easy access to different countries or places without any
pressure and stress. For example, when I attended Harvard University in the U.S.,
my friend Jay wanted to come to my place because he missed me. Due to his budget
situation, he was hesitated to travel aboard. After he realized that the costs
of flights were not so expensive than he expected, he could pour his spending
money into flight fees. And then, we were able to meet each other and hang around
my campus. As a result, we could keep our friendship until now.
In
conclusion, I strongly believe that even though people move to different places,
they can mingle well with their old friends with the aid of high technology, as
I have mentioned above. All in all, the importance of old friends cannot be overestimated
in their lives. |
