▶ Your Answer :
It is debatable whether the news media is a reliable source of
unbiased information. This is an intriguing question because opinions
concerning this issue can be different relying on the individual perspective.
In my opinion, I support that the news media is an unreliable source for the
following reasons.
To
begin with, news and newspapers are media which provides biased information. This
is because the government guarantees freedom of speech these days and this makes
it possible for independent media to emerge. In other words, such media are not
neutral and can express their own ideas also, support a particular political
party. As an example, I will refer to my case. When I saw the news about the parliamentary
election in Korea, I watched the news of JTBC and TV Chosun alternately. The two
media supported different parties and each of them was conveying the good points
of the parties they defended and the criticism of the opposing parties. Therefore,
I was confused about which information to believe because they provided different
facts.
In
addition, there are a large number of news media, so there is so much competition.
Therefore, most media not only use provocative titles but also report
exaggerated and unconfirmed information. These things are good to attract a lot
of people, but they can cause confusion and anxiety by conveying false information
to people. For instance, many people are having a hard time in Korea because of
the COVID-19. Once, some media published articles that people were hoarding in supermarket.
However, that was not true, and it had the bad consequences of bringing people
together more in the supermarket and making people nervous. In this regard, the
news media cannot be said to be a trustworthy source.
In conclusion, I firmly believed that the news media is not a dependable
source of unbiased information. All things considered, it is my belief that my
argument regarding this topic has been efficiently and precisely delivered with
the reasons mentioned above. |
