▶ Your Answer :
The reading and the lecture both talks about sending humans to Mars in the coming decades. The reading passage, says that sending people to Mars is dangerous and will occur many problems. However, the lecturer claims that those problems that are concerned can be solved. To begin with, the writer claims that the cargo capacity of space vehicles is too limited to put enough supplies such as food, water, and oxygen. However, the professor says that it can be solved by using "hydroponic". Raising hydroponic in the space ship, astronauts can recycle the water to drinking water and it will also provide fresh air from the plant. Also, it does not need soil to raise the plant which makes it beneficial during the stay in space. Second, the author mentioned the concern of spending months in a zero-gravity environment. To be specific, being exposed in an environment with zero-gravity will decrease the muscle mass and lower the astronauts bone density. In contrast, the lecturer supports her idea that regular exercise will help them remain their muscle and eating vitamins will keep them healthy in many ways. Therefore, she says that the worries about spending time in a zero-gravity can be covered. Lastly, the writer thinks that space radiation is a problem for humans to go to Mars. If they construct shields on every part it will make the space ship heavy. Thus, it is impossible to put shields. However, the lecturer refutes the writer's idea. She says that shields are only used in a dangerous time and most of the times are spent at the unshielded place which makes the writer's opinion groundless. |
