When people go travel a foreign country, they tend to visit museums in order to know well about the country. Some people believe it is the best way to learn about the country. However, in my opinion, it is not the best way but the worst way. This is because museums are likely to display the only stuff that the country want to show. The other reason is the best way to learn about the coutry is experiencing the culture of the country in person.
To start with, museums have something to do with the profit of the country. So museums do not put everything about the country because there are something to make people have bad images of the country. Some exhibition can be manipulated by the coutry and it causes misunderstanding of people who want to know the country. For instance, the national history museums of Korea and Japan's history museum look totally different. In the museum of Korea displays a lot of pictures of bad behaviors of japanese during the period when Japan ruled Korea. In contrast, in the museum of japan, we can't see those kind of photos because they don't want give bad impression to visiors. Those who visit the japan museum are not able to fully understand the country.
On top of that, experiencincing the culture of the country is the best way to figure out the country. In museum, stuff or pictures of the past are displayed and it can't explain how the country looks like now. However, the culture such as sing, movies, foods and things like that can explain how the country looks like these days. For example, BTS is a famous singer group in Korea and in the world. The appearance of the BTS members are similar to how korean looks like. The way how they wear and how they talk are representive for the korean. People in the world can understand Korea well through the BTS. In contrast, in museum, people can not learn how korean think and how korean talk.
In a nutshell, people can learn many things of a country through cultural things other than museums. Museums display what they want to show. Through experincing cultures, we can know the reality of the country. |
