Some people
think that one's social life has more effect on one's happiness than one's job
does. However, in my opinion, one's job is the most dominant factor for one's
happiness for two reasons. First, people spend most of their time to work at
their offices. Second, money from their jobs is a key factor on people's
happiness.
To begin with,
since people spend most of their time to work at their offices, their jobs are
more important in happiness than their social life. People work more than 52
hours of one week in Korea. Apart from time for sleeping, the amount of working
time dominates their lives. Moreover, it is common that their social lives are
also deeply related to their jobs. Therefore, one's job has more effect on
one's happiness than one's social life. For example, the research was conducted
by Korea Employment Center to identify crucial factors of one's happiness. The
researchers randomly selected 200 people who currently have jobs and asked them
to take test to measure their stress level. The result was intriguing.
Regardless of their social lives and leisure activities, their satisfaction
level of their job is a primary factor that determine their stress level. As
people feel more satisfied in their jobs and lives in offices, people feel
happier and their average stress level are much lower than others. This result
indicates that one's job has more influence on one's happiness than one's
social life.
On top of that,
in my opinion, one's income is a key factor related to one's happiness in this
materialistic society. As far as income is concerned, it cannot be denied that
one's job has more effect on one's happiness than one's social life. No matter
how amount of salary one can make, one feels happy when they earn and spend
money for one's pleasure. One's social life can give some pleasure and relieve
stress but it also arouse problems such as strifling and dispute. The survey
was conducted by Seoul Employment Center with employees in several companies as
respondents to investigate which factors are important in their lives to find
the strength and get back on the track in the world with endless competition.
An overwhelming 80% of respondents claimed that income is the most important
factor in their happiness. They even said that their social lives can be
ignored if they can earn lots of money.
To sum up,
taking one's working time and one's income into account, I believe that one's
job has more effect on one's happiness than one's social life. |
