▶ Your Answer : Some people think that grades are not beneficial to students to promote learning. However, in my opinion, grading students stimulate them to more focus on what they learn. This is because grades make them know how good they are doing and get positive pressure on studying.
To begin with, the grading system can help students recognize what level they are in the subject they learn. If no one let them know about it, they continue not to realize what they have to improve. For example, a friend of mine studied alone at home at the age of 11 and he and his mother thought he was good at mathematics. However, he got bad grade in the mid-term exam and his mother realized he was actually bad at the subject. After that, he studied mathematics much harder than he did in the past and he became a mathmetics teacher later. On the top of that, students cannot study hard if they are not evaluated in their studying. This is because people tend to be lazy if nothing force them to do something. We can see many students cram for exams, which means they are encouraged to study by the exams. In my experience, when I was a middle school student, I usually started studying hard two weeks before exams to get good grades. I think I would not have studied well without grades.
To sum up, grades let students know how good they learn and also have a positive motivation to study. In this regard, I firmly believe that grades are helpful to promoting learning.
