In this day and age, almost every resident
who lives in a democratic country is guaranteed their freedom. Freedom is
indeed an important component that we must have. Therefore, some people might
think that there should be no exception in the rule of people’s freedom. However, I think freedom can be infringed on sometimes. I
feel this way for two reasons, which I will explore in the following essay.
To begin with, there is always an exceptive
situation that has to restrict one’s freedom. By giving up a little freedom, it
can save one’s life. Probably many people will know how to act during an ambulance
pass beside them. They have to move away so the emergency patient can arrive
hospital safe. Also, it is illegal when they don’t make the way for the ambulance.
As you can see in this case, sometimes limiting one’s freedom is needed. It’s
only the one example of the exceptive situation. Besides, we don’t let other
people die. In the train station, it’s illegal to stay in the railroad. Some
people argue that they have the freedom to die, but anyway, I think life is the
most important thing that is upon the rule.
On top of that, sometimes people say
anything to others, even it is a bad word, by saying they have the freedom to
speak. If one is bullying another, we have to stop them even it is an act that
limits one’s freedom. For example, when I was in high school, a student who
says F-word to other students was punished due to his/her words. Also, bullying
others just by words was punished, too. When the school made the rule, the
class’s atmosphere had been brighter and softer. It is not important whether
one attack them physically or not. Words can hurt others, too. Therefore, their
freedom to attack others should be restricted, and it is in an acceptable
range.
To sum up, there can be an emergency
sometimes, and just having freedom without restriction might hurt someone. In
this regard, I firmly believe that people’s liberty can be infringed on
sometimes. |
