▶ Your Answer : The importance of sports is increasingly emphasized these days. Some people might argue that sports and social activities are not important as academic classes in universities. Contrary to popular belief, I think that at universities and colleges, sports and social activities are just as important as classes and libraries and should receive equal financial support. To support my stance, the following explanation will further elaborate on my perspective.
One of the remarkable aspects of the ongoing topic is that doing sports and social activities can enable people to deal with their stress. This is attributed to the fact that moving and sweating by doing sports distracts people from worries and stress since they can gain some breathing space. Therefore, this simple and quick escape from the realities may actually serve as a safety valve to let off some steam as well as a fun way to recharge energy. When I was a college student, I had a hard time concentrating on my study and focus on lectures because there were a lot of things to do such as adjusting to school life, making new friends, doing group projects and so on. One day, my best friend named Lisa told me that I had to enjoy some club activities because I looked so tired doing academic studying and assignments. Therefore, I joined tennis club with her and started to exercise twice a week. Consequently, I was able to focus on my lectures and study more effectively. If I had not started to do that, I would have struggled to be good at school.
Another reason which deserves to say some words here is that doing sports can building a stronger relationship with others. This is due to the fact that spending time doing fun activities together can create a comfortable atmosphere in which people can bond and have a great time with their loved ones. When I was a university student, I made a boyfriend named Jimin. However, I was very shy and had nothing in common with him. Thus, we started playing soccer by entering sports club at university. Doing sports not only helped me to relax but also provided some intimate experience to share. Although we broke up after 3 years, I am still remembering the experience that I played soccer happily with him.
In conclusion, as contemplating all the reasons which I mentioned above, I firmly convinced that there are many solid reasons to foster the idea that sports and social activities are just as important as classes and libraries and should receive equal financial support. |
