These days, many people complain about their
job and assume that their life could be better if they switched careers. However,
I would highly recommend my friends stick to the current job they are taking at the
moment.
First, the job market after the Pandemic dropped off the floor. According to the Economist, more than 2M people became jobless as of May, which is the biggest number ever since the great depression in the 1930s. In the midst of this situation, whatever you are planning to do, that would be hardly successful not because you are incompetent, but because there's no one who is willing to hire and buy in the market.
Second of all, there's no perfect job without any disadvantage. I have seen numerous people who decided to get out of the company, and finally ended up finding out the company they had left was the best company. You might work with people who are always pointing at your work and the tasks you are dealing with could be burdensome to you. However, honestly, no matter what kinds of jobs you have, these are the things you would face all the time. Just take it.
Last but not least, there is no A-HA moment even after getting out of the company. You might think you could find what you want to do once you become jobless. Sadly, that moment would never come to you until you try to find intentionally in advance. If you are really wanted to shift to other careers, you need to check yourself objectively so that you are able to see what your interest and strength are. Otherwise, working in the current job would be the best choice for you.
Starting a new career sounds memsterizing. However, reality is on the other hand. Getting out of your job without proper preparation is nothing but more than losing your monthly salary, which no one knows many months you are going through. Therefore, sticking to your current job until you find out what you want to do would be recommended certainly. |
