I think government should consider the environment when they pursue the economic growth. There are a lot of reasons why government should concern the natural but today I want to give two of my opinions to this topic with a following paragraph. First, the economic growth has to do with environment that related with the public health both directly and indirectly. In other word, blindly economic growth would result in a threat to the public health. I have a story about this connection. In developing county, economic growth is the best concern for them. This is because they depend economy on agriculture especially rice crops. High number of the yields means high economic growth by exporting the rice to other conturies, so government didn’t prevent farmers from using a lot of chemical fertilizers and agricultural chemicals. These chemicals and substances seep into the ground and finally reach the ground water that is source of well. As a result of the polluted well, people who drink water from well die or addict the heavy metals like lead. Through this case, government’s economic growth oriented policy could be a menace to the public health. Second, the economic growth that ignore the environment is not beneficial in perception of long term period. Although there can be considerable growth in a short time by using the natural resource blindly, this kind of growth can not be sustainable because it would definitely affect to the environment critically. I read some article about how much cost to purify the one liter of fouled water. It’s about twenty dollars. If we consider the whole amount of water that consuming one day in house, indeed it’s very expensive. In fact, reclaiming the natural, even if, take a lots of efforts apart from the costs. Therefore, in long term, government should pay for a lot of money to restore the environment, the budget of the country would be decrease finally it could affect the overall economic growth. Of course, the economic growth is a big concern to from individual to whole country but, especially, if the gorvernment’s policies don’t consider the environment, it may causes a serious problem such as public health and a decline the economic growth in the long term. Therefore, I think government should consider the natural environment when they establish the economic strategy. |
