Without doubt, plays a key role in people’s daily lives in many of the places where they work or play. Some people think that gaining practical work experience by having a part-time job or by volunteering is most beneficial to young to spend their free time on a day off from school or in the evening after school, while others do not. Both sides have their own reasons to support their view. If I were asked to choose one, I would say that learning to play a sport is the best way for students to spend their free time. There are several reasons as follows. To begin with, students who playing a sport can improve their physical health. Regular exercise can develop their muscles, speed up their metabolism, and burn calories. This is likely to prevent the young from getting sick or overweight. For example, Chris, one of my friends, used to suffer from diabetes and obesity. He lived a sedentary life at school by spending a lot of time reading books, working on his school projects and doing his assignments. However, his health has improved after he started to learn to play tennis after school. He joined a varsity tennis team to escape from his sedentary life and played tennis almost every day. As a result, he not only won the tennis game but also gained some muscle mass and had better control of his blood sugar. He eventually lost twenty pounds and maintained a normal weight without getting diagnosed with a serious illness. If he had not joined a varsity tennis club after school, his physical condition would not have been able to improve. To sum up, I strongly believe that playing sports is important for students to spend their free time far outweigh those of learning to play a musical instrument nor obtaining work experience for the reasons I have mentioned above. All in all, minimal efforts can bring a huge change in the future. |
