It is difficult to fathom what others think, but my opinion in regard to the given topic is adamant. I believe that it is better for students to divide their pastime to do various activities than to concentrate on a single field in their free time for two reasons which I will explore in the following essay.
To begin with, delving into a myriad of activities shows outstanding effectiveness in broadening one’s perspective which is essential for success. To be specific, nowadays, young students are living in a world of meritocracy and they suffer from tons of information through formalized education. The problem here is that this kind of standardized education is conveyed with sources’ of viewpoint and students could become easily short-sighted if they do not participate in diverse activities and gain first hand experience. Therefore, I believe encouraging students to try out various activities in their young age is the realistic option to gain a well-balanced view. For instance, I will give an example of myself and my sister to elucidate my point. When I was a middle school student, I loved gaining knowledge from books and spent the whole day focusing on my text books. Unlike me, my sister joined several clubs after school such as debate club and soccer club and hung around with a lot of friends. Even if it was a little different, the result was huge. When we got in trouble in our work, I struggled for a long time to overcome the situation, however, my sister always came up with fresh ideas and dealt with her problem easily with her myriad of actual experiences which cannot be learnt by a book.
On top of that, trying out numerous activities enhances students to maintain a wide range of relationships in our society. To explain, these days, our society is requiring a person who surpasses others both in specialty and sociability. There is no better way to meet new people than included in several clubs. In this sense, participating in diverse clubs and hanging around with people from diverse backgrounds in students’ young age is clearly vital in building a more promising future. For example, the experience of my friend Yoonsik can be a perfect example of what I contend. When he was little, his mother recommended him to join various clubs as much as possible and it became a life-changing event. In those clubs, he met a lot of strangers and learned how to communicate with others from different backgrounds. Surely, it was hard to become a friend with them at first but once he got used to the situation, he seemed really good at starting a conversation with new people. By improving his social skills in his young age, he always leaves a good impression in his work these days and every one in our company loves to help him.
To sum up, I believe that my explanations above sufficiently prove the advantages of participating in a myriad of activities in one’s young age. Obviously, the significance of broadening one’s perspective by gaining first hand experience and maintaining a strong social network cannot be overemphasized enough.
