Postdoctoral and Graduate Positions
Dr. John Greer is currently looking for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to work on two projects: 1) Development of treatment strategies to reduce pulmonary and cardiac defects in a mouse model of sickle cell disease. 2) Development of pharmacological therapies to treat obstructive and central sleep apnea.
Dr. Silvia Pagliardini is currently looking for graduate students interested in working on the following projects concerning neural control of breathing: 1) functional role of the paraFacial Respiratory group in respiratory control; 2) state dependent modulation of respiratory muscle activity. Research will use a combination of anatomical, electrophysiological and optogenetic techniques.
Dr. Joe Casey has recently been awarded two five-year CIHR grants and thus has postdoctoral and graduate student positions open for motivated candidates to work on two projects:
1) Structure and transport mechanism of the red blood cell chloride/bicarbonate exchange protein AE1 (Band 3). 2) Blinding corneal dystrophies caused by mutations of the transport protein, SLC4a11: understanding and correcting the molecular defect.
Dr. Zam Kassiri is currently looking for a PhD student to work on projects investigating the role of TACE (TNF alpha-converting enzyme) on aortic aneurysm and vascular remodeling. Laboratory research experience in molecular biology, cell culture, histology and microscopic imaging, and mouse models will be an asset. The successful applicant should be competitive (academically and otherwise) for external funding.
