▶ Your Answer :
An intriguing topic of discussion at hand is whether it is better to have an intelligent friend than a friend who has a good sense of humor. The answer to this question can vary greatly. Thus, the jury may still be out, but as far as I am concerned, I disagree with the statement. In this essay, I will present two reasons supporting my standpoint as follows.
First of all, in today’s world, it is necessary to have a good sense of humor. Differently put, to have a good interpersonal relationship we need to get the sense of humor which makes people laugh. This is attributed to the reason that people are inclined to have a positive attitude toward the person who makes them laugh and feel comfortable. If we have a humorous friend and spend the certain time with him, we will be able to equip ourselves with good sense of humor. Thus, it is better to have a friend who has a good sense of humor.
Moreover, when choosing a friend, focusing on a friend’s intelligence doesn’t guarantee that the choice was optimal. We have general saying that ‘A friend indeed is a friend in need’. Therefore, It is better to have a friend who always be supportive to what we do and gives critical advice on us. I have personally experienced this on many occasions, but the most notable example is as follows : I had a friend who has a gift to make laugh and he liked meeting people in many ways. I once just thought that he was the friend who only has a good sense of humor. But, when I had fall into a difficult economic situation, he lend me a large amount of money and gave me a truthful advice what I have to do to get out of the situation. It was a totally different experience from what I was thinking about him and I learned that the most important criteria that I have to have when choosing friend is his/hers truthful mind toward me. And, from my experience most of friends who are in favor of me and have a truthful mind to me are not the friends who are intelligent but the friends who have a good sense of humor
In conclusion, I strongly argue for my standpoint on account of two rationales mentioned above. Once again, the verdict may still be out, I personally believe that two of my reasons are sufficiently supporting enough to present the viewpoints of the people who are in favor of my claim. |
