There have been some discussions between whether or not companies should spend their money on improving the work skills of their employees. Although some people think it is better for companies to enhance the quality of machines or facilities, I state the opposite opinion because of two major reasons. To improve efficiency of productivity and can survive in the fierce competition with other companies.
First of all, if the employees’ work skills are improved, it will bring a high quality of products and enhanced efficiency. Many companies today, provide their workers a chance to learn. This is because the workers who have more experiences, knowledge and skills, can work more diligently and efficiently. This obviously will benefit to their companies. For example, my uncle’s company spent money to send him to Canada for business education for one year. When he came back, he gave many benefits to the company. He targeted customers and markets with skills he learned, and of course, the productivity and efficiency of products rose.
Similarly, companies with high skilled workers are more likely to survive in the fierce competition with other companies. As an example, in the 18th century, the popular business method, Taylorism, has failed because the company did not try to improve the skills of their workers. Businesses in modern days are always full of competitions. In order to survive, the workers must be well educated than others. This is why famous companies employ workers with higher specs. Well-educated employees can give better ideas and creative thoughts that benefit the company. With these workers, the company will eventually grow and they eventually will stand out in the business world.
In conclusion, it is important for companies to spend money on improving the work skills of their employees because with skilled workers, the companies’ efficiency and product quality will improve, and they will be able to survive in the competition with other companies. |
