▶ Your Answer :
In
this set of materials, both reading passage and the lecture deal with the
decline of the Teotihuacan. Regarding this topic, the lecturer argues that some
theories about it cannot be believed for several reasons. This contradicts the
writer’s claim that there are some probable reasons.
First
of all, according to the lecturer, there is a theory about burning by foreign
invader cannot acceptable. To be specific, it was just fraction. So damage was
not that tremendous. Additionally, archaeological researchers excavated local
crafts from there. It proves that people were still living there after that
invasion. This refutes the writer’s view point that Teotihuacan was declined by
burning from invasion of foreigners..
Moreover,
the lecturer goes on to say that drought theory cannot be appreciated, either.
This is because, drought was general situation for them, so they can use water
by arrogation. This point counters the writer’s assertion that, this ancient
civilization stopped thriving because of drought resulted from low rain fall.
Lastly,
the lecturer maintains that Teotihuacan people exploited trees in their forest
100 years ago. The forest was vanished long time. And if they had few trees
then their requirement, they could imported from other countries. This rebuts
the writer’s argument that the deforestation which caused bad soil conditions
such as erosion and lack of mineral gave arise to destruction of Teotihuacan. |
