▶ Your Answer :
It is questionable whether using e-mail or text messaging are better method than using telephone or voice messaging for discussing serious problems. In spite of what advocates of contrary contend, my personal opinion taking on the matter is that using e-mail or text messaging is much more efficient way to discuss controversial matters. There are a number of different arguments that I can use to support my contention, but I will narrow my discussion to two of the most important points that are also most relevant to the topic : First, people can deliver message in detail, and secondly, using telephone or voicing messaging is costly.
The first and the most convincing reason behind my contention is that e-mail and text messaging allow people to include every detail of information. Needless to say, a communication is one of the most important factors in problem solving. In order to solve a problem or share ideas and thoughts, it is crucial for communicators to deliver specific information. It is obvious that E-mail and text messaging allow to include all the details of information because writer can take a time and comfortably correct mistakenly written information any time. On the other hand, using cell phone cannot include all the details of information since people are likely to forget information when they deliver it verbally. For instance, I read a newspaper Korea Times. In the article, one of the surveys in Canada showed that large percentages of people prefer writing to speaking over cell phone for discussing serious matters. This is largely because people are aware that they are less likely to discuss details over phone. This clearly demonstrates that using e-mail or text messaging is far better than using cell phone for an efficient conversation.
The second point lies on the fact that people can save money by using e-mail or text messaging. In most cases, it is clear that people need to pay for using cell phone or voicing messaging. Considering the fact that using e-mail has no charge fee, using telephone is not the better method than using e-mail. Economically speaking, using e-mail is far better. For example, when I needed to discuss my financial problems with my parents last year, I could only use cell phone because there was no computer. Financial problem was one of my serious matters in highschool year. I spent about an hour using cell phone, and the charged fee was extremely expensive. In this case, it is much wiser to use e-mail for discussing controversial issue.
As a result, I firmly believe that aforementioned arguments support my position that using e-mail is better means than using cell phone when people need to discuss serious issue. Using e-mail is efficient not only because it enables people to include many details as possible but it is also economical. Therefore, I believe that people need to use e-mail for discussing controversial issue. |
