▶ Your Answer :
In the lecture, the speaker contends that drawbacks of havin
diversified roofs such as living roofs and green roofs far outbalance the
benefits of them. He also mentions that the advantages of having diversified
roofs are too overstated that the reading passage suggests. He rejects the
reading’s assertion about several utilities for planting unique roofs like
green roofs.
To begin with, lecturer states that, planting diversified
roofs will not solve the city parks dilemma. He points out that although,
number of parks increases, those people who can’t access that will not get much
benefits as much as other people. However, this is contradictory to the reading
passage that says constructing novel parks will be beneficial for the residents
surrounding it.
In addition, the speaker mentions that several people do not
get same benefits as much as other people do. for example, people who walk or
pass through the sidewalk will have difficulties to watch those spectacular and
fabulous views from the roofstop. This view is in direct opposition to the
reading passage which claims that planting trees, grass and flowers will
develop varieties of attractive views.
Finally, he asserts that green roofs will only outbalance
the cost of saving cost as compared to supplementary cost that needed to be
carried out. He supports this view by giving several examples like installation
and maintenance which must be carried out for assembly of the roofs, and
further the care for water leak. On the other hand, the author of the reading
passage believes that green roofs will onl save energy. |
