▶ Your Answer :
According to the listening passage, three theories in bird migration are not true. This weakens the reading passage’s opinion that birds migrate in three possible ways.
Firstly, the sun and the stars do not provide the route that birds migrate. In fact, birds fly well regardless of whether. Also, the sun and the stars can not be seen during day time and if there are a lot of clouds, it is hard for birds to find where the sun and stars are. This contradicts the reading passage where it says, the sun and the stars play a major role in a bird’s navigation.
Secondly, birds are able to find their migration ways without any geographical remarks. They can detect migration routes easily, although it is the first time to them. In addition, birds change migration routes which they never been flown. This casts doubts on the reading passage claim that landmarks such as mountains, coastlines and rivers offer birds migration way.
Thirdly, the magnitism which is located in bird’s brain is not always useful. The magnetite in bird’s brain reacts when birds bypass near at the pole. However, when they fly over the east and the west, they are likely to lose their own way due to no magnetic signals. This idea goes against the reading passage’s opinion that birds’ natural inner compass help them reconize their way by sensing their own latitude.
