Many people believe that reading books gives more knowledge than watching television. However, I disagree with that statement for the following reasons. First, television has visual images and sound. Second, we have more time to contact television than books.
To begin with, diverse sound effects and vivid images are existed on television. To be more specific, I think both books and television have the same knowledge. However, we feel hard when we only reading books and gain information. This is because books have just texts. Television provides many images and sound effects about the information. For example, despite we are not going to zoo, we can gain a vivid image about animals. Therefore, we can memorize them more easily. In this regard, I believe that we can more learn through the television than books.
Second, modern people spend their time of watching television than reading books. In naturally, people turn on the television when they stay at home. However, in order to read books, we need to spare our time. It is something difficult to busy modern people. According to a survey by Samsung Economic institute, it shows that more than 80% of surveyed read less than three books a year. In this context, it is hard to modern people to gain the information by reading books. In addition, television always gives updated information such as around the world to us. Also, television announces sounded information for us. In this sense, we can more obtain the information from television.
All in all, I believe we can learn more by watching television. First, they have sound effects and visual images. Second, we spend more time with television. It is not too much to say that watching television gives more knowledge than reading books. |
