It is often argued that television and movies have a positive influence than a negative influence on young people’s behavior. Even though the jury is still out, I disagree with the statement. The rationale behind is that luxurious trends and commercialism broadcasted through television serve harmful effects to youths. Moreover, young generations have larger possibility to blindly imitate bad behaviors in movies.
First, young people are more likely to be greatly affected by extravagant consuming patterns and commercialism. Although some critics argue that admirable effects of television and films appreciably outdo bad ones, it is more justifiable to contend that wasteful consuming habits and commercialism have strong impacts on less mature people whose sets of values are getting formed by visual and auditory contents. For example, according to a report recently released by the Ministry of Science and Technology, there is a growing trend as follows: young generations’ consumptions are becoming bigger with supplying of televisions. The underlying cause of this is the identified to be the fact that televisions not only televise commercial advertisements but also describe people who possess expensive stuffs or valuable things as cool and fabulous. What is more, these render youths to develop biased standards of their values. Therefore, these are just a few of many aspects that demonstrate that televisions serve no good influences on young people.
Additionally, young men and women may mimic violent or vulgar words or behaviors in televisions and films. In other words, television and movies depict people who act roughly as cool guys; thus, youths who primarily watch television in their leisure time are significantly affected by these shabby languages or attitudes. For illustration, teen films display tough attitudes of characters, thereby emphasizing these acts as symbols of stylishness. Since televisions and movies only entertain viewers by recklessly telecasting these behaviors, young audiences tend to follow these rude or shabby manners. Thus, as many sociologists draw their conclusion, there exist more strongly negative influences than positive influences which televisions and movies serve on young generations. | |
