Since playing games is so fun, it is one of exellent ways to spend our free time. Many people regard activities like playing games as just the method of killing time. I do not think, however, that is all that games can provide us. Not only that, games can give us a lot of lessons because it resembles our lives. So I agree to the idea that playing games teaches us about life.
To begin with, playing games can let us learn how to follow the rule in the society. One of common aspects between games and society is that the members of each should follow the rules. For example, if you play soccor game with your friends, it is an implicit rule that you should not touch the ball with your hands. Once you violate the rules agreed by all the participants, you are going to get corresponding penulties. Giving a yellow card to the player who catch the ball intentionally using his/her hands whould be a good example. In the process of playing such games, people can learn about how the rule-following works in actual society as well. They do not have to actually violate some social rules to see what the result of rule-breaking. Playing games can serve of simulation of real society.
Moreover, in playing games, people can realize that they should do their best to get good results. In games, there always exist the winner and the loser. The winner can have all the benefits and joy whereas all the loser can do is to apease their bitter feelings. To be a winner in a game, one should make a lot of effort to use all of his/her knowledge and ability. In every sports games, the one smiles at last is the one who did their best to win the game. The numorous trophies that Tiger Woods won in major competitions was nothing but the result of the sweat he shed. It is not that different in actual socieity. Only the one who works harder can expect the rosy future.
It is not too wrong to call games the miniatures of our lives. We should follow the rules and do our best to win, in both playing games and leading our lives. If there are, by any chance, parents who do not want to see their children playing games, they should consider the fact that when their children are playing games, they are learning about lives. |
