Most parents do not like their children playing games. Because they think that their children should study or read books rather than play games. It is partially true that games give harmful effect on children when people play game a lot. But I think when they are played properly, games can teach us precious lessons about our life because they help us to improve our abilities to think logically and social skills.
First of all, we could learn abilities to think by playing game. Because some games such as Chess and Paduk need a lot of logical thought. People who play these games must think about the next and more further strategies to win the game. Moreover to win the game people also need to memorize some basic rules. These could increase people's intellectual abilities. In korea ,for example, many students learn Paduk when they are young. Because Paduk is one of the most thought demanded games. By playing this, students could improve their memory and ability to think logically.
Furthermore, people could improve social skills by playing games. There are many games that demand cooperation. From exercise such as soccer, baseball, and basketball to computer games like the Starcraft and Tetris, most games need cooperative minds. Helping and competing their friends people could improve their social skills. In my case, after work hours, my office's co-workers often go to PC cafe and play computer game "Starcraft" which need a cooperation to win. Playing this game we could improve our teamwork and remove our stress.
Accordingly, I agree with the idea that games can give us valuable lessons because they could increase our ability to think and cooperative mind. For these reasons, I strongly recommand people to play game to get both intellegence and social skills. |
