Most teachers and parents emphasize that students should study hard to succeed in their future. However, I strongly disagree with the idea that studying hard to get good grade is the most important factor of success. First, character education for social skill is essential for school children. Second, human network is basis of success in a future job.
To begin with, character education for improving social skills and behaving well is very beneficial for students. This is mainly because character education and group activities can help students better focus on their study.
When I was in middle school, the school encouraged teachers to spend some time with students after school. Some teachers were in charge of sports activities. By participating in the sports programs, we could stay healthy physically and develop social skill through group sports activities. Also, we could refresh and recharge ourselves, which made it easy to study more efficiently. Other teachers organized a variety of cultural events such as performances and art exhibitions. Access to many different kinds of artistic activities helps us to become well-rounded individuals. With the teachers’ professional and friendly assistance, we could easily cooperate with each other and study more enthusiastically. Finally, our school students showed higher grade and the ratio of getting into top universities than other schools that had no character education programs.
On top of that, human network created during their school life can be a basis of success in the future. A survey result shows that most of successful CEO in United States considers the most important factors in their business as social skill and creativity. Furthermore, I strongly believe that creativity can be developed when you meet diverse people and learn about how to control differences between other perspectives from them. These experiences will be not the same as something you can learn from textbooks and they will have a greater impact on your life. For these reasons, I think that development of social skills and construction of human network are more crucial for students than just concentrating on study.
To conclude, only studying hard in school is not a wise idea because if they do, boys and girls cannot have time to develop their characteristics and social skills. For success in their future job, I strongly believe that it is better for them to focus on relating well with other students as well as studying hard. |
