People learn more from their peers or co-workers that teachers or supervisors. |
It is often said that it is better for people to learn from peers of co-workers than those from teachers or supervisors. Some people might think that advices from peers is beneficial because they are of same situations and ages. However, I think that advices from teachers or supervisors are imperative due to their more persuasive directions as advices. Also, people would be able to grow up by receiving from those who have long-term view of life. To begin with, it is invaluable to accept advices from teachers or supervisors. Because teachers or supervisors are more knowledgeable and have a wide range of experiences on various fields due to the longer educational or working background. For example, When I have been in college, I had to assigned to the group presentation for professor’s clients in Architecture 426. Even after weeklong discussion, we cannot make whole outline about the project. No one have leadership and make team members follow by showing outstanding decisions. Fortunately, my professor provided bright outline within a short time for us, we can finish the group presentation without any accidents. Without professor’s advice, we wouldn’t have bee able to be done our works successfully. Moreover, advices from teachers and supervisors encourage people grow up. It is obvious that teachers or supervisors have a wealth of experiences beyond their specific fields. Therefore they have more long-term view of life than those of peers or co-workers, even though the latter are in my shoes many times. As an example, when I have been in internship in Intercontinental Hotel, I often cried after my boss yelled at my tardiness and unkindness and mistakes to customers. Whenever I was in trouble with that, peers usually sat next to me and showed the sympathy. However, reflecting on how I changed my attitude at work, without my boss’s advice, I cannot grow up in my work place. In brief, valuable advices from teachers of supervisors are more beneficial than those of my peers or co-worker. Their advices from hands-on professinal experience should not be underestimated to people who have to learn. |
