"Never, Never give up" means to keep trying and never stop working for your goals. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? |
There are many values people consider important in their lives. Honesty or dignity could be one, or even money could be a candidate. However, not giving up and going forward for your goal is one of the most important value that people hold highly upon. There is even a famous line by the atheletic brand that goes "Impossible is nothing" - I think not. It is all wonderful that we human always try to overcome our limitation, but I believe that knowing our limit and recognize when to give up is just as important for following reasons.
First, because impossible is something. There are things that we desire to do, but never capable of doing. I don't think it is very wise to waste up our lives to reach for stars. For example, I always wanted to be a professional baseball player when I was in school, though I knew that I did not have the god-given atheletic ability to be so. I have become a better player as I practiced, but it was very obvious that I can never be good enough to go to pro. or even a college. I gave up on my dream to be a baseball player, and I don't feel bad about it. What good is it if I waste my life trying to be a baseball player when there is things that I am better at.
Second reason that I don't agree with "never, never give up" statement is giving up is not the dead-end of our lives, but it could be the begining of the whole new world. People usually get dipressed when they see their limit, even after they put everything they have to reach up the goal. I think the fact that someone put that much effort itself speaks enough of what he/she is made of. Chan ho Park, national hero of South Korea, started his atheltic career as a sprinter, but when he saw his limit in running, he turned around from it and never looked back. Now look at where he is. I don't think he could have got all the fortune and fame if he didn't give up on his goal to be a sprinter.
To conclude, even though it is very hard to accept our own limit, sometimes, it is very much needed for self-improvement. I don't agree with the "never give up" statement because we, humanbeing, certainly have limit - things that we can never acheive as an individual, and giving up on one thing may open an opportynity on the other end. |
