The requirements for choosing the company is dependent on personal preference. That has to cover many things to satisfy one. However, when it comes to the size of the company, some people prefer a large company to a small company because the benefits from a large company look bigger than a small company. The following passages are explaining about why a large company has more benefits.
When people talk about the size of a company, they usually count the heads of the people in the company. This means that in a large company, there are a lot of people that might have different backgrouds. Nowdays, a company does not employ the people in domestic. If there is a good and qualified person overseas, a company does not falter to employ the person. Also, in old time, people usually think of the patriotism that have to be kept for their contribution, but in current time, no individual want to get bogged down in a small world which is their own country. People might think that it is good opportunity to work overseas for their own lives. This makes a large company more diverse. Also, one individual can get a chance to meet many people from different backgrouds.
In order to control so many people with different ideology, a large company has to have systematical structure not only for the human resource department, but also for overall structure. If there is no standards of processes, people will get obfuscated while doing their jobs. The process and overall structure can teach one who want to build own company in the future, and those can comfort employees once they get used to those.
Once I worked for POSCO company which is large and have a lot of money. It has an enormous pool for education. When I was a turtle in the company, I need to get 20 points credits per a year from the edcuational system. That points directly applied to my promotion. Moreover, the programs of the educational system was so broad and covered many subject not only about personal hobbies, but also about special technologies, I could get a lot of help from the system. People hardly think that this kind of educational system is provided by a small company for free.
Even if a small company has cozy environment and tightly coupled relationship, it can not provide many amenities and proper education that people can be satisfied with. Ironically, a small company always lacks of employees while an unemployment rate is really high. This fact may explain that a lot of people including me want to work at a large company with all those benefits mentioned above. |
