It has been argued among many people whether the history courses should be taken by all university students or not. Although it is true that taking the history courses are play a significant role in getting a specific culture backgrounds and understand, I disagree with that all university students should be required take history courses. This is because it is wasteful to university students and attribute to the employment. Most of all, all university students should concentrate more on their major in order to get better job. Of course, learning the several different courses may offer them various experience and general knowledge, but in this modern fast and competitive society, people who have shallow knowledge in specific parts not guarantee success. To demonstrate, according to the combined research conducted by department of Education in Seoul National University and the national statistical office in March 2007, there were two groups of students: those who take several different courses and those who only pushed them on their specific major during their college day. The outcome was noticeably different in the percentage of company enrollment. In the latter group, there were a higher percentage of employments. This indicates that when students are trained focusing on several courses, thus decreasing rate entering a profession. Moreover, learning the history is wasteful to university students. This is due to the fact that they had already learned history when they were high school years. My uncle’s personal experience as an example, after he graduated high school, he selected marketing for his major and art history for his elective courses. He said he really hope take relax during his college day. The reason is he was stressed out from each semester and then he played video game to reduce his high stress level. He thought both relaxation and focus on academic work was important for his health and future career. Then, he made solution that tried to spent more energy on his major, not elective, and then left time to take relaxation. He added the art history was unimportant to him because of he had already took it before when he was in high school and reduce his work efficiency. This indicates that learning the many subjects by all university students is take away their time to do other things and reduce study efficiency. In conclusion, I disagree with the take history courses should be taken by all university students on behalf the reasons that I mentioned above: concentrate on only their major is good for both their grade and future employment. Therefore, university students do not need to take history courses.
