Parents can no longer control what their children do |
It is often said that parents can no longer control what their children do. Some people disagree with this statement in that parents virtually have an effect on their children's everything. In first glance, this opinion seems to be somewhat appealing. However, I firmly agree that parents can no longer control what their children pursue because parents do not have sufficient time with their children and development of media affect children a lot. To begin with, it is common that children should spend their time alone or with friends because their parents early go to workforce in the morning and turn to home in late. Accordingly, children lose an opportunities to talk with their parents and spend time with their parents. Accordingly, children no longer want to listen what their parent speak and do not think what they speak as importance. For example, Sue Lee, my young brother, should spend a majority of his time playing with friends because my parents should go to work and I go to school. One day, my father asked him to paly with, but by brother did not follow father's opinion. Instead of playing with father, he went to the playground to play with his friends. This implies that children who less spend their time with parents higher depend on friends than parents due to laking time which get together. In addition, medias have an great impact on children. It is obvious children are exposed to media such as TV, radio, and magazines all the time. These days, these context of media is plaining more and more. Since children do not have capability to determine whether something is good or not, they unconsciously tend to imitate image of media. Accordingly, due to media, parents can not control their children. To demonstrate, according to a recently released by the Korean National Research Center, more than two thirds of surveyed children made a statement that they want to mimic stars even if their parents do not want children to mimic. In short, I strongly believe that these days parents can not control what their children perform. This is because children reduce time with their parents and mass media more affect children than parents. |
