Opinions might be divided over whether television advertising directed toward children (Aged two to five years) should not be allowed.
Personally, I agree with the above statement for the following reasons. First, television advertising instigates children to buy needless things. Second, television advertising can affect on children's emotional health negatively.
Above all, we are living in the time of overflow of advertisement. Like this, children are likely to be exposed television ad. Television advertising are attractive enough to attract children's attention. Popular animation characters such as Keroro, SpongeBob coax children to buy toys and eat hamburgers. Children who like these animation character would like to buy what the characters eat, play with and wear.
Since children are short of ability to discern, they ask their parents to buy those that are advertised on TV. Even though those are not necessary, parents buy the things for their children. Thus, television advertising induces children to impulse buying.
Second, television advertising can affect children's mental health. The purpose of advertising induct people to buy goods. To attract people's attention in 15 seconds, advertisements have become more sensational and violent. Since children are in process of development, lascivious and violent commercials are able to have negative influence on children's emotional development. Therefore, children can be influenced by TV commercial.
In conclusion, I think that television advertising directed toward children should not be allowed for the reason that I mentioned above.
First, TV commercial incite children to impulse purchase. Second, children can be affected by sensational and violent commercials.
