▶ Your Answer: People usually do not satisfy with what they have but they want to satisfy with their current states. Albeit the human always consider satisfaction with what they own as an virtue, dissatisfaction is the inducement of the human development. Furthermore, recent scientific and psychological studies show that satisfying with what they already have is impossible goal. In this sense, I believe the human cannot be satisfied what they have for the scientific and psychological reasons.
To begin with, Satisfaction is not a permanent concept. Because satisfaction is a relative criteria, they cannot sustain their satisfaction as long as other people achieve more things or get distinguishable things. In this sense, people cannot be satisfied as long as other people develop. For example, a research conducted by Harvard University in 2011 shows that they do not satisfy with what they already have. In this research, researchers gathered 70 of children and gave each of them different toys and observed them. The result was quite interesting. They did not satisfy with their own toys and tried to steal other people’s toy although they have each of toys. This research shows that people always want something more or something different.
On top of that, people do not satisfy with their own things because of genetic reasons. Because satisfaction is the state of happiness with their current state and happiness is the inducement of accomplishment, they must soon be dissatisfied with their current state because their gene demands them to develop continuously for their surviving. In this sense, it is impossible to satisfy with their current state because of genetic reasons. For instance, a genetic research from MIT conducted in 2013 shows that gene is the reasons why the human cannot be satisfied. with their own things. In this research, they mutated a gene of a rat to be satisfied with its current states and released it to a cage with other rats. Surprisingly, the rat did not eat those because that rat did not compete with other rats. Few days later, he died because of the insufficient supply of foods. As this research shows, we cannot satisfied with what we own because of genes.
To sum up, people cannot be satisfied with what they own. This is because satisfaction is not a permanent concept and genetic reasons prohibits us not to satisfy with our current situations. In this sense, I firmly believe that people always want something more or different. |
