▶ Your Answer : There might be some people who believe that
it is better for teachers to be paid according to how well students perform in
academic studies. However, I disagree with the insistence for the following two
reasons. The concepts of social skills and stress clearly illustrate the theme.
To begin with, teachers should not only
teach academic skills but also social skills in their classes Because it is
another duty of teacher to make their students adapt well in society. This
would be come true through various activities such as hands-on activities and
extracurricular activities while interacting with diverse other student, so
they can build interpersonal relationship and social network. Therefore,
teachers also should spend their class time in making students sociable other
than teaching academic concepts. I will bring up my personal experience as an
example. When I was in elementary school, I had learned many things like bake
and sewing through a host of extracurricular activities in class hour. As a
result, a wealthy of experience could let me adapt well anywhere I went and
make friends easily after then. If my teacher had had interest in only raising
my academic achievement at that time, I would not be sociable now.
On top of that, students would be stressed out
when teachers enforce students to raise their students’ academic performance.
Not always the suppressed atmosphere warrants to improve students’ academic
achievement. There was a recent survey done by Seoul National University
researchers, which reaffirmed my viewpoint. In my community, they compared two
schools having different policy over whether teachers were being paid according
to students’ academic performance. The result of survey was that there was no
difference of students’ academic achievement regardless of their policy. Also,
the policy brought about a lot of stress for students. This clearly proves my
perspective.
As I mentioned above, being free from
students’ academic performance would be helpful for improving students’ social
skills and reducing stress that students might go through. In this regard, I
strongly believe that being paid according to how well students perform in
academic studies is not better. |
