▶ Your Answer :
Some
people think that the competition in the sports is much more important than the
fun of sports. They may have their reasons for that thought. However, in my
opinion, children should play sports for fun rather than for competition. This
is because the fun is the main objective of the sports and excessive emphasis of
competition can hurt the health of children.
To
begin with, the objective of sports is to collectively enjoy the activities. In
the other words, the aim of sports is not to win other players but to have fun
with other players. The Olympics can be a good example to explain this. The
origin of Olympics is that the leaders of the civic countries in Athene wanted
to make the cities incorporated. As a result, they started the sports games in
which many players from all of the cities participated. Since then, it became
the world festival for all people from the world can enjoy.
On
top of that, the excessive emphasis that the players have to win the others can
hurt the children. The emphasis can be a big burden for children. If they practice
excessively harder, then this would undermine their health. For example, when I
was in middle school, my friend was a tennis player. Her parents wanted to make
her a representative player of Korea so she practiced very hard. She played
tennis every day for 8 hours. Eventually, this became a big burden for her knees
and she quit the tennis. Recently, when I met her, she said that playing tennis
at the middle school is a toilsome memory for her rather than enjoyable one.
To
sum up, given that the end of playing sports and the fact that forcing to win
others can be a poison to children, children should play sports for fun rather
than for competition. For these reasons, adults should teach children the
ability to enjoy the game with their friends and this can be expanded to their
life.
