An intriguing topic of discussion at hand
is whether cars have made greater impact on society than airplanes. It may seem
true that cars have gave more influence on society. However, with in-depth
analysis, planes seem to have made more. Although people may hold different
ideas and opinions, I personally consist that influences made by planes are greater
than those made by cars. This is because planes took transportation to a whole
new level and caused wars to be more threatening than ever.
First of all, planes enabled transportation
between countries very quick and easy. Before its invention, traveling was
limited only to areas nearby. The only means by which of distant traveling was
done by ships, which took months or even more. Nowadays, it only takes maximum time
of 24 hours to reach the opposite side of the world. This innovation advantaged
in various ways especially in emergent situations. For example, an earthquake
with the magnitude of 7.4 stroke in Nepal few years ago, leaving thousands of casualties.
Thankfully additional loss was prevented as helps from all around the world
reached in hours. Supplies for the shelter, troops for rescue, and foods for
the victims were sent to recover the tragedy placed on Nepal. As shown in this case,
planes offer a beneficial method of transportation, especially in emergent
situations.
Moreover, planes have spurred the wars to become more dangerous. Despite the convenience it provides, as always, there is another side to the coin. As easy as it became for the travelers to move around, distance no longer impeded the conflict between countries. For instance, they developed planes for military purposes, loading bombs and troops. Compared to the time when wars were restricted to soldiers and military base only, the aftermath of war extended to civilians. The most representative case would be the Japan’s nuclear disaster in 1945 where millions of civilians were sacrificed(killed) by it. Thus, planes heightened tensions between countries due to inconceivable devastation it may result.
In a nutshell, although whether our world have(has) been better influenced by cars or planes may remain controvertible, (but) it seems reasonable to side with the effects (of) the air crafts (that) have(were) made to(for) us because of the reasons discussed in the area.
